Three Yellow Chicken (三黄鸡, sān huáng jī), Shanghai Rock Progressive Blues Metal Punk
Biography
Formed in June 2001, the band was actually named when all band members went out drinking after a long rehearsal session. Eating the local Shanghai dish "Three Yellow Chicken" they suddenly found the name sticky. They play a mixture of punk, blues and heavy metal folk rock.
In October 2001, they performed in the SUS2 Music Factory.
On November 4th the same year they performed in the Ark.
At the beginning of 2002 Wang Qin joins on the drums. Before him famous Liu Hai Shen sat behind the drums.
On March 9th, they performed in the SUS2 Music Factory.
On November 23rd, they performed in the Music Warehouse.
On December 21st, they performed in the SUS2 Music Factory.
On March 8th 2003, they performed in the SUS2 Music Factory.
On March 10th the same year they performed in the Ark.
In April the band was featured in the magazine "Shanghai Walker" (上海 Walker) in its 2003 April edition.
On April 20th, they performed in the Ark during the "我們這一代" event. Due to the fact that one of their band members planned to leave for Germany for one year in May 2003, they hold their last concert, their farewell celebration, on April 27th in the Ark and put their further band activities on rest.
Not before 2005 did the band resume their activity and hold their first concert on April 23rd 2005 in the Harley's Bar.
On June 18th, they performed in Hangzhou's 31 Bar.
On July 16th, they performed in the SUS2 bar, during their 5th anniversary celebrations.
On August 18th, they performed in the Harley's Bar.
On September 24th, they performed in Hangzhou's 31 Bar.
On November 25th, they performed in Hangzhou's 31 Bar.
On November 26th, they performed in the Live Bar.
On December 29th, they performed in the Live Bar.
On December 31st, they performed in the Live Bar.
On January 14th, 2006, Three Yellow Chicken performed in the "Rock around Clock" event and also on the same day hold a concert in the Live Bar.
February 12th the same year, they performed in the 021 Bar.
March 3rd the same year, they performed in the 021 Bar.
March 4th, they performed in the Shuffle Music Bar.
March 18th, they performed in Hangzhou's Jazz Bar.
March 19th, they performed in Hangzhou's Traveler Bar.
April 15th, they performed in the Shuffle Music Bar.
May 12th, they performed in Hangzhou's Jazz Bar.
May 27th, they performed in the Live Bar.
June 10th, they performed in the Live Bar and in the Shuffle Music Bar.
Three Yellow Chicken was featured in GigShanghai Show #11 on August 3rd 2006.
